How do young people feel about climate change?
To answer this question I designed a questionnaire to survey some of the psychological aspects of dealing with climate change. The aim of the questionnaire was to discover some of the emotional reactions people have when faced with a series of conflicting facts about our environmental situation, then encouraging them to engage further with these emotions through the use of drawing. This was based on the argument that one of the reasons why people do not participate as much as they would like to with green issues is because the initial negative responses they have leaves them feeling powerless.
A further dialogue was encouraged with the participants after they had filled in the questionnaire by sending them a badge with a comment specifically tailored to their response. The questionnaire was targeted primarily at people in there 20’s during the Work In Progress show at the RCA.
