Visual Storytelling

Visual Storytelling_250x250.gif

I have a background in comics, sequential illustration and narrative design.

I have a particular passion for being a visual voice to those that need it, and in communicating complex social, psychological or environmental issues. This includes visual storytelling for projects that cover topics such as mental health, wellbeing, sustainability, climate change, disability, social justice and other global issues.

I have created printed and digital comics, animations, social media campaigns and comics, storyboarding and visual mapping to navigate complexity. I have worked on projects for all age groups and nationalities and run workshops on visual storytelling, comics and narrative design internationally.

Below is a small sample of recent visual storytelling projects that I have done. If you have any further questions, or would like to find out how visual storytelling could benefit you, your organisation or project, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

What is Visual Storytelling?

We are surrounded by narratives and stories. Story is one of the oldest human ways of making sense of and understanding the world around us. There is a reason why it is fast becoming one of the most valued roles within any branding, communication, educational or awareness raising project.

Stories help us connect emotionally and intellectually to what could otherwise be inaccessible or complex subject matter. Stories can be told in many ways (they don’t even have to be linear) and can be applied to many things.

“The stories we tell ourselves shape our perception of the moment and set the tone for the future.”

- Erica Helm Meade, Psychotherapist, Storyteller and Author
